Overnight oats for breakfast, lose 2 kgs in 1 week with mango lassi overnight oats #nisahomey #overnightoats #lose2kgs

Overnight oats are uncooked oats which is soaked overnight with milk or yogurt (curd), or with fruit juices. The oats will absorb all the favours and the liquid thus making it an easy and healthy breakfast.

To neutralize the phytates inherent to oats they must be soaked in an acidic medium overnight; they can be a tbsp of lemon juice, curd, yogurt, buttermilk, apple cider vinegar etc. Soaking in acidic solutions (lemon juice, curd, yogurt etc) allows enzyme, lactobacilli and other helpful organisms to break down and neutralize phytic acid.

You can add yogurt/curd or fresh fruits/juice of your choice to make it more flavourful. In this recipe, I used mango and blended them with skimmed milk and yogurt before mixing with the oats.

I did not add the sliced mango cubes to the oats mix as I have noticed that sliced fruits tend to get a bit soggy; but if you do not mind that, you can mix or top the mango cubes/slices.

This can be made in a bowl with a lid, but a mason jar with a lid is more convenient choice – the reason is that…all you have to do is grab your overnight mango lassi oats when you are rushing to your office/work.

The best part is you can stay healthy and lose weight with this low calorie overnight oats plus the added benefit of not making an elaborate breakfast….you just have to grab the jar and pop in your bag when you leave for work OR grab a spoon and enjoy this easy breakfast in the comfort of your home.

Skimmed Milk: 1/2 cup
Skimmed curd/yogurt: 1/2 cup

Keep this in a mason jar or in a bowl covered with a lid overnight in the fridge, or for atleast 8 hours for best results.
